Everything After This Inherits Your Framing

A wall that is out of plumb by a quarter inch does not stay a framing problem. It becomes a drywall problem, then a door problem, then a casework problem, and by the time anyone traces it back the fix costs ten times what setting the track properly would have. We frame from the plan, snap the layout, and set steel plumb and square, because every trade after us is building on top of whatever we leave behind.

Track, Layout, and the Details That Hold

We snap both top and bottom track from the same control lines, fasten to the deck and slab at the specified spacing, and set studs at 16 or 24 inches on center to the spec. Head-of-wall conditions get deflection or slip track where the structure above will move, so the partition does not end up carrying load it was never designed to take.

Rated Walls and Seismic Detail

Utah sits on the Wasatch Fault, and non-structural partitions and suspended ceilings here carry bracing requirements that a lot of out-of-state crews are not used to detailing. We frame rated corridors, demising walls, and shaft assemblies to the listed detail and brace to the seismic spec, because both of those get looked at closely by inspectors in this state and neither is a good place to improvise.

What Our Metal Stud Framing Service Includes

Taping is the step that decides whether a drywall job looks professional or shows every seam under paint. At High Mountain Drywall, taping is its own discipline, not an afterthought squeezed in after hanging. Our crews embed tape into every joint, corner, and fastener head, then build up coat after coat of compound until the wall reads as one smooth, continuous surface. Whether it’s a single room or an entire new-construction build, the same careful process applies to every seam across Utah County and Summit County.

Framers and Hangers on the Same Team

Our framing crew knows the hangers are ours, which changes how carefully the studs get set. There is nobody downstream to blame and nothing to hide behind a sheet of board. That single fact does more for framing quality than any inspection process, and it is why our walls come out straight enough that the drywall goes fast.

Serving Contractors and Developers Across Utah

We frame office and flex buildings along the Silicon Slopes corridor in Lehi, retail and medical space in Orem, American Fork, and Provo, multi-family projects in Vineyard and Springville, and hospitality and mixed-use in the Park City corridor. We also do metal framing on residential jobs, most often in basements where steel goes up straighter and faster against a foundation wall than lumber does.

FAQ

Metal Stud Framing Questions

Q Why use metal studs instead of wood?
Steel is dimensionally stable, so it does not shrink, warp, or twist as it dries, which means the walls stay straight. It does not burn, it does not feed mold, and it comes in consistent lengths. On commercial work it is usually required rather than optional.
Yes. Metal framing shows up most often in basements, where it goes up straight against a foundation wall and does not care about the moisture that would eventually reach lumber.
25 gauge covers most non-structural interior partitions. Heavier gauge goes in on tall walls, walls carrying casework or fixtures, and anywhere the structural drawings specify it. We frame to the spec, not to habit.
Slip or deflection track at the head of a wall lets the structure above move without transferring load into a partition that was never designed to carry it. It goes in wherever the structure will deflect, which on most commercial jobs means the top of most walls
Yes. Utah’s seismic requirements for non-structural partitions and suspended ceilings are stricter than many crews expect, and we detail bracing to the spec rather than treating it as optional.
Yes, and it needs to be located before board goes up. Give us the mounting locations during framing and you will fasten into steel plate later instead of relying on anchors.
Both, and most clients want both. One sub from layout through finish means no gap between trades and no dispute about whose work caused a problem.
Linear footage, wall heights, gauge, rated and shaft assemblies, and the amount of backing and bracing the drawings call for. Send the plans and we will return a bid-ready number.
